Ueto Aya will be starring in the NHK Winter 2013 drama "Itsuka Hi no Ataru Basho de" (Someday, where the sun shines) due to begin its run on 8 January 2013 at 10pm on Tuesdays. The 10-episode drama based on Nonami Asa's novel will feature Ueto in her first role as a criminal.
Ueto plays Komoriya Hako, an university student, who falls for a man working in a host club. In a bid to support his climb to be the top host, she uses up her money. She then resorts to tricking man into love hotels and drugging them before robbing them of their belongings. She is then sentenced for robbery and sent to prison for 7 years at a Kanto women's prison. Hako befriends a fellow inmate Eguchi Ayaka (Iijima Naoko) who was sentenced to five years in prison for killing her husband who physically abused their son. When Hako and Ayaka are finally released from prison, they begin living together and become a dog clothes designer and a bakery employee respectively.
Filming for the drama has already begun.
