Oricon released its annual top 10 most anticipated "new adults" ranking on Seijin no Hi (Coming-of-age Day) i.e. today where 1,000 survey respondents from their teens to 50s chose the celebrity that they most expect to do well after becoming an adult legally. Ashida Mana who turned 18 in June last year is the winner across all age groups while Michieda Shunsuke was the No.2 choice for those in their teens and 20s and shogi player Fujii Souta was the No.2 for those 30 and above.
Those who were born between 2 April 2002 and 1 April 2025 are considered to be adults from today onwards after Japan lowered its coming-of-age criteria from 20 years old to 18 years old from 1 April 2022.
