A short feature on the Blue Ribbon Awards and the nominees for the 65th edition (2022)


The Blue Ribbon Awards was set up in 1950 and is currently organised/managed by the Tokyo Film Reporters Association made up of reporters covering the film industry from the 7 sports newspapers based in Tokyo i.e. Sports Hochi, Daily Sports, Sankei Sports, Tokyo Chunichi Sports, Tokyo Sports, Sports Nippon and Nikkansports. 

The nominees are selected from films released between 1 Jan and 31 Dec within the Tokyo Metropolitan Area (the entire Kanto region + Yamanashi Prefecture) in the previous year and announced in January every year. The award ceremony is held in February and will be hosted by the best leading actor and best leading actress winners from the previous edition. Last year's winners were Okada Junichi and Nagano Mei.
