Kimi tachi ni Ashita wa Nai - NHK Sat 9pm drama beginning in Jan 10
Sakaguchi Kenji will be starring in the NHK Saturday 9pm drama, "Kimi tachi ni Ashita wa Nai" (You do not have a future) which begins its run from 16 January. The story is based on a novel by Kakine Ryousuke which won the Yamamoto Shuugoro award. Sakaguchi plays an interview officer working for a retrenchment outsourcing company who conducts interviews with employees of companies which are on the verge of collapse. On the pretext of persuading employees to opt for voluntary resignation, he uses various methods to force them to quit on their own instead even though he feels their pain of losing their jobs at the same time. This is the first time that Sakaguchi is acting in a NHK drama since "Seirei Nagashi ~ Anata wo wasurenai" in 2002. Filming is due to begin in the middle of Oct till the end of the year. The NHK Saturday 9pm slot has been dishing out dramas focusing on social trends or sensitive topics since 2006 including Hyouheki which starred Tamaki Hiroshi as a mountain climber and "Hagetaka" which talked about the financial world.
