Sato Takeru & Takahashi Issei to star in new movie "Oku Otoko"

Sato Takeru and Takahashi Issei will be starring in the new movie "Oku Otoko" (100 Million Man) which will be directed by Ohtomo Keishi and released in cinemas from 19 October. The film which is based on the same-titled novel by movie producer Kawamura Genki, was nominated for the Honya Taisho in 2015 and its hardcover version sold more than 560,000 copies to date. China will be making its own adaptation movie of this novel as well. The shooting in Monaco involving Sato and Takahashi was completed at the beginning of the year while the rest of the filming will be done over two months from mid March to mid May. The soft cover version of the novel will be released from 9 March where there will be a lucky draw offering a prize of JPY 1m.

The story features Sato as the lead character Kazuo who is saddled with debts of his missing elder brother and dumped by his wife who takes their daughter with her because she has had enough of his miserable situation. Just then, he strikes lottery and gets the prize money of JPY 300m which is supposed to turn his life around. Takahashi plays Kazuo's buddy back in university named Tsukumo who is a billionaire. Kazuo turns to Tsukumo for help when he gets scared after seeing the sorry plight of other lottery winners online but gets drunk during the process. When he comes to, Kazuo finds his JPY 300m and Tsukumo gone. While searching for Tsukumo to get his money back, Kazuo comes into contact with various billionaires and learns the meaning of money from them. Co-stars also include Fujiwara Tatsuya, Kitamura Kazuki, Sawajiri Erika and Ikeda Elaiza.
