Hongo Kanata to appear in both anime & real-life adaptation movie versions of "Inuyashiki"

Hongo Kanata will be appearing in both the anime and real-life adaptation movie versions of "Inuyashiki" where he plays the same role Ando Naoyuki. Both versions are based on the same-titled manga by Oku Hiroya which had sold more than 2 million copies to date. The movie version will feature Tunnels' Kinashi Noritake and Sato Takeru as the leads while the anime version will feature Kohinata Fumio and Murakami Nijirou as the leads.

Kinashi & Kohinata will be playing the lead character Inuyashiki Ichiro, an elderly salaryman who has no friends and a poor relationship with his family. One day, he gets struck by a mysterious explosion in a park which leads to him acquiring a cyborg-like body and superhuman powers which he resolves to use in helping others and find the meaning of his existence. On the other hand, a young man named Shishigami Hiro (Sato & Murakami) was also affected by the explosion and decides to use his powers to kill mercilessly in a bid to bring about the extinction of human beings. As the paths of Inuyashiki and Shishigami cross, they are destined to fight each other as nobody but Inuyashiki can stop the latter.

Hongo's character Ando is a senior high school student and the childhood friend of Shishigami who vows to exterminate humans. Despite his cruelty, Ando is one of the few people who Shishigami still opens his heart to but he will join forces with Inuyashiki to stop his buddy. Hongo said that he has been a fan of "Inuyashiki" and was eagerly awaiting the anime version of this story especially since he had acted in the real-life adaptation movies of "GANTZ" and "GANTZ PERFECT ANSWER" which were also based on Oku's works. He called upon fans to look forward to both the anime and the movie.

The anime series will begin its run from 12 October in FujiTV's Noitamina timeslot while the movie is scheduled to be released next year.
