Matsushige Yutaka to be back in TV Tokyo Spring 2017 drama "Kodoku no Gurume Season 6"

Matsushige Yutaka will be back in the new TV Tokyo Spring 2017 drama "Kodoku no Gurume Season 6" which will be shown in the Fridays 12.12am timeslot from 7 April. This will be the first time that the drama is shown in the Spring season. The drama which is based on the manga written by Kusumi Masayuki and the late Taniguchi Jiro who passed away on 11 February, has consistently achieved high ratings despite being shown in the midnight timeslot and its most recent installments was Season 5 shown during Autumn 2015 and the New Year SP shown on 2 January this year.

Filming began on 18 February in Tokyo as well as other areas where Inokashira Goro (Matsushige) goes to for his business trips. Matsushige who is a small eater, commented that after doing this drama for 5 years since 2012, his stomach seems to have gotten bigger for him to be able to eat all the delicious food featured in the drama.

In addition, the popular corner "Furatto QUSUMI" featuring Kusumi visiting the actual restaurants featured in the drama will continue in the new season. He will also be involved in the production of the BGM and theme music used in Season 6 besides writing the script.

  1. I would love to trade place with him sometimes. The foods always look so delicious.

So it reach season 6 already? Wow, even Shinya Shukudo only in its 3rd season. Well, I guess it's easier to make Kudoku as it's more focus heavily on food unlike Shinya which has more side plot on it's customer. I just wish they can show more on how to cook those food in Kudoku as I want to try make some sometimes.

  2. Hi Buta, Matsushige said before in an interview that he does exercise so I guess that helps him to maintain his figure. Besides, he is usually a small eater so he only increases his intake while filming this drama.

Well, Shinya Shokudo has a different focus compared to Kodoku no Gurume. One is more focused on featuring heartwarming dishes which touch the hearts of the customers while the latter is from the perspective of a single customer who finds delicious food in the restaurants he comes across by chance while he is outside for work or other reasons. There is probably no need to know how the restaurant cooks the food since what matters most is seeing Goro enjoy his delicacies. ^__^
