Completion screening event of new WOWOW drama "Rakuen"

The completion screening event of new WOWOW drama "Rakuen" was held at Tokyo International Forum on 6 January which was attended by the director Gonno Hajime and cast members Nakama Yuki, Kuroki Hitomi and Kaho. The drama which begins its run from 8 January in the Sundays 10pm timeslot, is based on the same-titled novel by Miyabe Miyuki which describes what happens 9 years after the end of another Miyabe novel "Mohouhan".

In "Rakuen" which takes place 9 years after the Doizaki couple killed and buried their then-15-year-old daughter under their house, Shigeko gets a weird request from a housewife who wants to find out if her 12-year-old son really has supernatural powers as he claimed. From the picture which the boy drew, Shigeko sees a striking resemblance to the Doizaki case and decides to undertake the investigation. Just then, the boy dies of a traffic accident thus leading Shigeko to wonder if there is more than meets the eye.

As this is the first time that Nakama is starring in a WOWOW drama, she revealed that she was feeling double the pressure especially since her character was really difficult to play. However, she managed to go through the filming with the help of the director and thanked him for his advice.

When asked about their aspirations for the new year, Nakama commented that she had been able to take on stage plays (Hourouki since 2015) and host TV shows (MUSIC FAIR since April last year) which has enabled her to further her horizons and look at things from a different perspective. As such, she hoped that she will be able to treasure each work opportunity which comes her way and that they will bear fruit for her. As for Kuroki who made her debut as a movie director last year, she expressed her wish to produce more works which will make everyone happy. Last but not least, Kaho commented that she wants to develop a more positive outlook this year because she tends to be quite pessimistic.
