Kimura Takuya & Ueto Aya to play husband and wife in TV Asahi Spring 2015 drama "I'm Home"

Kimura Takuya will be starring in the TV Asahi Spring 2015 drama "I'm Home" which begins its run from April in the Thursdays 9pm timeslot. This will be his first leading role in a TV Asahi drama series as his 18 works after 1996's Long Vacation had all been from FujiTV or TBS only. This drama which is based on the comic by Ishizaka Kei, had been made into a drama by NHK in 2004.

Kimura will play the role of a married salaryman with a son who loses his memory for the past 5 years due to an accident and sees his current wife's face as a mask with no features while being suddenly very concerned about his ex-wife and daughter who he had left 5 years ago. As he tries to regain his memory, he uses the 10 keys in his possession to find out the mysteries behind these keys. Ueto Aya will play the role of his current wife and this is their first collaboration in a drama.

Filming will begin in mid March.

  1. I LOVE Takuya Kimura and really like Aya. And this sounds interesting. That said, they need to stop making his female co stars so young even though he is the hottest man alive :)

    I'll be watching.

  2. I think it is probably due to the fact that Kimura's peers or those who are around the same age as him e.g. Tokiwa Takako, Matsu Takako, Fukatsu Eri are focusing more on movies rather than dramas so that is why his co-stars are getting younger. Besides, It could also be a conscious choice to emphasize how Kimura is still "young" enough to romance any actress regardless of age or despite his marital status or the fact that he already has two daughters. If I remember correctly, his elder daughter should already be a teenager by now. That is why they are making such a big deal over the fact that he is playing a father and wearing a wedding ring onscreen in this drama which is something unthinkable in the past because they don't want to remind viewers of his real life as a husband and father.

Come to think of it, I just think it's quite silly because everyone knows about him being off the market since more than a decade ago. Not talking about it doesn't mean that people won't be conscious of it. The more you try to hide it, the more ridiculous it gets.

  3. I can't wait for this one because I love the cast, but I agree that Kimura's young co-stars are getting a bit ridiculous. I think it's gotta be a Johnny's thing. Get over it, people. He's a grown-up :P
