The press conference of NHK drama SP "Kouhaku ga umareta hi" (The day when the Kouhaku was born) was held on 29 Jan which was attended by the cast members Matsuyama Kenichi, Honda Tsubasa, miwa, Takahashi Katsumi, Kobayashi Takashi, Ozora Yuhi, Hoshino Gen and Rokkaku Seiji. The drama SP set in the post-WWII era which will be shown on 21 March at 9pm, features Matsuyama as a director who strived to set up the radio show "Kouhaku Ongaku Shiai", the predecessor of the TV version of Kouhaku. Although filming started this month, the cast had to wear summer clothing as the story was set in the summer from 15 August 1945 which was the day following the end of WWII. Despite having to bear the shivering cold, Matsuyama commented that he couldn't complain since the child actors even had to wear shorts so he wasn't in such a bad situation after all. As preparation for this SP, Matsuyama volunteered to attend the Kouhaku rehearsal last year to get a feel of what was involved in producing the programme and hoped that the hour spent there would be useful in helping him convey the passion put into the making of Kouhaku.
