Oizumi Yo releases new essay book "Oizumi Essay ~ Boku ga Tsuzutta 16nen"

Oizumi Yo held a publication event for his new book "Oizumi Essay ~ Boku ga Tsuzutta 16nen" on 29 April which is a compilation of his essays written over the past 16 years since 1997. The book has sold more than 70,000 copies in just 10 days since its release and even beat Murakami Haruki's new book at the Lipro Bookstore chain on the weekly sales ranking and cannot be bought from the bookstores at the moment due to lack of stock. As the book has already been printed up to its 4th edition, Oizumi commented that he may introduce some new content for the 5th and 6th editions so he jokingly "warned" the readers who had bought the earlier editions not to be too complacent about getting the book earlier than others.

The book contains the essays Oizumi published in three different magazines which talk about his life as a part-time worker, his university days, his family and how he got his first career breakthrough through the programme "Suiyou Doudeshou" between 1997 and 2005. As the book is now selling like hot cakes, the media was naturally concerned about how much he would earn but Oizumi pretended that he wasn't concerned about the money since he wrote the essays as a form of expression then did a turnaround by saying that he worked hard to write and should be duly compensated for that.
