Koizumi Kyoko will be starring in her first NHK morning drama "Ama-chan" which begins in April next year where she plays the mother of the heroine played by Nounen Reina as announced during the cast announcement press conference at NHK on 6 September. The drama is set in Iwate Prefecture where Nounen plays the lead character Amano Aki, an introvert high school student from Tokyo who becomes a female diver of a town rejuvenation campaign in Iwate.
Koizumi revealed that she has been watching morning dramas for some time ever since she started to wake up earlier than usual after she turned 40. She also revealed that she was excited about how this drama would turn out given that it is written by Kudo Kankuro.
Filming of Nounen's scenes at sea will begin in the middle of this month in Iwate Prefecture and will then involve the rest of the cast from mid October.
