Review of Zenigeba Ep 2

It becomes apparent in this episode that Fuutarou has a motive for "creating" that accident to cause Midori to knock him down with her car. At first, it may appear that Fuutarou wants to get close to Midori directly but my guess now is that he wants to achieve his aim indirectly through Akane, Midori's younger sister. Akane is a much easier nut to crack than Midori because Fuutarou knows that Midori may not take a liking to him. And he wants the heart of a beautiful person. In order to do that, he has to go through the weakest link in the Mikuni family i.e. Akane. As Akane has an inferiority complex due to a birth mark on her face and the fact that she walks with a limp, Fuutarou's appearance seems like a saviour because he is the only one who understands her feelings towards people who are normal and seemingly perfect in anything. Like what Fuutarou says, they are like those who stand in the dark and look at the sun. On one hand, you desire sunshine but on the other hand, you hate its existence. This contradictory feeling is exactly what Akane has been feeling but nobody has been able to understand. As such, she falls for Fuutarou very easily and clings onto him as if he's the life buoy while she's sinking. And once Fuutarou successfully enters the Mikuni family, I wonder how Akane will be "disposed of" by Fuutarou who would stoop at nothing to achieve his aim.

However, there are at least 4 persons who will stand in his way:

1) Ogino: He's convinced that Fuutarou killed his younger brother, Hiroshi so he will continue to pursue Fuutarou in future.

2) Fuutarou's father, Kenzo: He will be a big problem now that he met Fuutarou again. His presence like a leech will no doubt thwart Fuutarou's plot.

3) Midori and Akane's father, the owner of Mikuni Shipbuilding, Joji: He doesn't like Fuutarou at first sight and could be an obstacle.

4) The maid in the Mikuni household, Haru: She saw Fuutarou sniggering to himself so she has reason to view him in a suspicious light.

Although the mood of the drama is generally heavy, a light-hearted moment taking place in the restaurant, Izu-ya provides some comical relief. Fuutarou is at a loss as to how to react to the Nonomura family who's really passionate but I guess he's glad somewhere deep down because he gets to eat bera, a fish dish in this place which his mother always made for him. One thing worth taking notice, is the photo which Yuka, the niece of the owner showed Fuutarou. According to her, her elder brother who has disappeared, looks very similar to Fuutarou. Since we are not shown the photo in this episode, I have a hunch that something is wrong somewhere.

Things are getting heated up and the action is thickening. In the next episode's trailer, Akane brings up the issue of wanting to marry Fuutarou. Does that mean that Fuutarou will be able to get into the Mikuni family? And there's a scene of Fuutarou burying something...does that mean that he killed someone again?
