Production press conference of TV Asahi Summer 2017 drama "Kurokawa no Techou"

The production press conference of TV Asahi Summer 2017 drama "Kurokawa no Techou" was held on 10 July which was attended by cast members Takei Emi, Eguchi Yosuke, Naka Riisa, Ito Shiro, Maya Miki, Takashima Masanobu, Takito Kenichi, Okuda Eiji, Naito Risa and Wada Masato. The drama will begin its run from 20 July in the Thursdays 9pm timeslot.

The drama which is based on Matsumoto Seicho's famous same-titled novel, describes how a contract bank employee Haraguchi Motoko (Takei) is stuck with a huge debt of her mother after her father passed away. In order to repay the debts, she works part-time at a nightclub in Ginza. Just when she has finished paying her debts, news of her impending retrenchment reach her. Motoko then makes up her mind to leave the bank and embezzles JPY 180m from her employer which is used to open a high-class club Carnet. With the list of dummy bank accounts of the rich and famous which she acquired from her previous job and recorded in her black notebook, Motoko rises up the ranks in the world of darkness filled with love and desire. Previous drama adaptations of this novel featured Yamamoto Yoko, Otani Naoko and Yonekura Ryoko as its lead.

Takei who was dressed in a white kimono, commented that it has been fun to play her first baddie role to date and overcome various challenges just like how Motoko did. Before the filming began, Takei actually visited nightclubs in Ginza and talked to the mamasans there. She revealed that she had always gone to Ginza in the daytime so she was surprised by how different it looks at night. Takei said that she saw many elegant, feminine and beautiful ladies while she was there and found out from them the significance of owning a club of their own there which will be useful to her when playing Motoko.

Eguchi who had last worked with Takei 5 years ago in the FujiTV drama "Iki mo dekinai natsu", remarked on how she had become an adult after all this time and that she has a commanding presence when dressed in a kimono. As such, he believes that this role will probably change everyone's image of Takei to date.

It was also announced that Fukuyama Masaharu will be singing the theme song "Seiiki" for this drama and he sent a video message which was played during the event.
