Congrats, Asano! Even in first gear, and with a shitty character, he was still the best of the lot.

Well, I think Asano is a good actor but I really don't think his performance in "A LIFE" was that fantastic partly due to the way his character was written. Likewise for Matsuyama Kenichi who I like but I can't bring myself to say the same for his role in the same drama. In fact, the supporting cast members were all made to look like acting amateurs for some reason which makes me lament about the huge waste of this pool of talent.

Kudo Kankuro did very well in just two episodes of "Quartet" but too bad, he was only ranked No.3.

Heh, I mean best of the lot in A LIFE, not the rest of the candidate pool. It is as you said, the rest of the cast had stupid characters just to make Kimura's shine, and it was just a meh drama overall. Asano should never return to television unless he gets a lead role in a solid WOWOW drama.

Ah, so that's what you meant. ^__^ I agree, unless there's a good role waiting for him in a drama, Asano should probably stick to his movies which will allow him more room to shine.
