Production press conference of FujiTV Winter 2017 drama "Uso no Sensou"

The production press conference of FujiTV Winter 2017 drama "Uso no Sensou" was held on 6 January which was attended by cast members Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Fujiki Naohito, Mizuhara Kiko, Kikuchi Fuuma, Maggy, Yamamoto Mizuki and Yasuda Ken. The drama which begins its run from 10 January in the Tuesdays 9pm timeslot, features Kusanagi as a fraudster whose family members were killed when he was young and describes his journey to take revenge on those who were responsible for his plight.

As this was Kusanagi's first public appearance since SMAP disbanded, the media was naturally very interested in him and his first solo project. Kusanagi expressed his intention to approach this with renewed resolve and work hard in the new year. When asked about what he did during the New Year holidays, Kusanagi revealed that he was cleaning up his house and sleeping but he found that the state of his house before and after cleaning the house was about the same so he probably won't do spring-cleaning again. Kusanagi also commented that despite the negative theme of revenge, he hopes that the drama will be able to convey hope and light for the future through their hard work.

During the event, the producer Kawanishi Hideyuki revealed that he had heard about Kusanagi "complaining" about the early filming hours on the latter's radio show with Katori Shingo. Upon hearing this, Kusanagi expressed surprise that he never expected the producer to listen to the radio show but added that going to Harajuku's Takeshita-doori at 6am in the morning was really tough.

As for his love triangle in the drama with Mizuhara and Yamamoto, Kusanagi revealed that his character is somewhat cool but he was actually feeling quite embarrassed and shy in front of the actresses so he had to bluff his way through just like what his character does in the drama.
