Tsukamoto Takashi to star in WOWOW drama "Haitatsu saretai watashitachi"

Tsukamoto Takashi will take on a leading role in a drama series for the first time in five years since the NHK drama "Kansa Houjin" in June 2006. The drama titled "Haitatsu saretai watashitachi" (We want to be delivered) is based on the true story of scriptwriter Isshiki Nobuyuki who battled depression  and he will also write the script for this drama which begins its run from 12 May at 10pm on Sundays.

Tsukamoto will play the role of a 32-year-old man Sawano who lost his job due to depression and isn't on good terms with his wife played by Hasegawa Kyoko and a 6-year-old son. After a failed suicide attempt in a ruins, he discovers 7 letters which had not been delivered and sets out to send them to their intended recipients as a way of counting down to the end of his life. He meets the first recipient Yu (Kuriyama Chiaki), a hairdresser who was abandoned by her mother when she was a child. After meeting Sawano, Yu goes to the extent of sleeping with him in order to get him to face life more positively and helps him to deliver the remaining letters.

This being his first leading role since he turned 30 years old last year, Tsukamoto commented that he felt that this is the best time for him to take on such a role because he got married in 2007 and has a 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. If he was still single, he wouldn't have been able to play Sawano in this drama especially in the climax scene Sawano talks about his feelings towards his family.
